WAVERLEY WIND FARM
WAVERLEY WIND FARM
2009
The landowners of the Waverley Wind Farm site have been involved with the development of a regional wind farm since 2004 have been directly pursuing the continuation of this development over the past six months.
Previously being developed inconjunction with the local office of Australian based Allco Wind Energy, significant progress was made during 2006 and 2007. Unfortunately Allco’s New Zealand assets were hit hard by the economic storm that appeared in 2008 and Allco Wind Energy was placed into receivership in late 2008. While progress slowed in late 2008, interest in the development of a wind farm at Waverley remains strong.
The sites monitoring equipment has been recording wind speeds and therefore the viability of a wind farm since 2006. Results showing this site to be an excellent, low volatility wind resource capable of generating sufficient power for over 65,000 homes.
As we have more information we will make them available through the press releases page of our website.
